“이런 ㅈ만한 놈들이!” 작고 하찮은 놈들이 떼로 달려들면 더 화가 난다. 하찮은 놈들이 쪽수 믿고 다구리로 달려드니 더 열받는다.

ㅈ만한 검사들과 하찮은 기자들이 무슨 더러운 음모를 꾸미다가 들킨 모양이다. ㅈ만한 기자들과 하찮은 검사들일지라도 작정하고 달려들면 무섭다. 협박하고 위협하니 공포감을 느낄 수 밖에 없다.

야비한 놈들이다. 작고 하찮으니 기껏 독술(毒術)이나 쓴다. 사람 죽이는 독술사로 길러진 놈들이다.

서아프리카 줄루족이 사는 지역에 작고 하찮은 놈들도 산다. 개미를 타고 다닐 정도로 작은 놈들이다.

줄루족은 놈들을 공포로 여긴다. 독화살을 쓰기 때문이다. 떼지어 다니기 때문이다. 보이지 않는 곳에 숨어있다 공격하기 때문이다.

놈들은 씨족과 파벌을 이뤄 산다. 서로가 서로의 ‘제 식구’다. 틈만 나면 감싸준다.

아, 놈들에 관한 아주 재밌는 얘기가 있다. 놈들에게 “ㅈ만한 놈들”이라고 멸시하면 미쳐 날뛴다. ㅈ만한 것들.

ㅈ만한 놈들

Abatwa. (단수, Umutwa) 땅 위에 사람꼴 따라한 것들 가운데 가장 작은 놈들. 이것들이 그 씩씩한 줄루족을 위협한다. The Abatwa are extremely small men. The tiniest creatures in human form. The Abatwa represent a great danger to the Zulu. a legendary race of minuscule hunters originally told of by the Zulus as being a menace in their territories.

덩치로 안 되니 독화살

맞으면 피 철철.... 뼈까지 갉아 먹는다. They are armed with poisoned arrows which caused uncontrollable bleeding. When they've killed an animal, they eat every piece of it leaving nothing behind.

ㅈ같은 습성

놈들은 씨족과 파벌을 이뤄 산다. 보이지 않게 안갯속에서 움직인다. 떼지어 희생자를 찾아 다닌다. They maintain a clan and family structure. They travel in the mist.

ㅈ만한 사이즈가 무기

뵈질 않으니 무섭지. The true dreadfulness of the Abatwa comes from the very fact that their size makes them almost invisible in most circumstances.

‘ㅈ만한 놈들’이라 하면 광분

허허, 지들이 뭐라고..... Abatwa hated being told or reminded they were tiny. Any indication from a Zulu that they felt an Umutwa was small would instantly result in the Zulu being shot and killed!

놈들 만나면 이렇게 인사하자

“봤네잉~” For this reason, the Zulu have adapted the rather unusual greeting of "I saw you!" when encountering any Abatwa. If the tiny warrior then asks the Zulu where he saw them from, the Zulu needs to answer in a way that implies a great size to the minuscule threat, such as "I saw you from that mountain over there."

피하는 게 상책

The only comfort is too avoid the territory of the Abatwa altogether.
